Singapore

Singapore greeted us with a fascinating blend of ultra-modern architecture, lush greenery, and an infectious energy that instantly draws you in. We spent days exploring this incredible city and from the moment we arrived we were captivated by how seamlessly it balances futuristic innovation with natural beauty and cultural charm.

Our time around Marina Bay Sands was nothing short of extraordinary. The hotel itself is a masterpiece with three towering columns connected by the world-famous SkyPark with its breathtaking infinity pool perched high above the city. Even if you’re not staying there it’s well worth a visit just to take in the spectacular skyline views, especially as the sun sets and the city lights shimmer across the bay. We loved strolling along the Marina Bay waterfront, watching the dazzling reflections and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere. Taylor Swift was performing her concert there so we joined hundreds of other people at the Merlion and enjoyed the music wafting over the bay

Just across the water, we spent hours exploring Gardens by the Bay, one of Singapore’s most iconic attractions. The Cloud Forest Dome took our breath away with its thunderous indoor waterfall. The misty treetop walkways made us feel as though we were climbing through the clouds. The Flower Dome was equally stunning with its ever-changing seasonal displays and colourful blooms from around the world. At night the Supertree Grove transformed into a magical wonderland during the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show and it was a truly mesmerizing experience to lie beneath the illuminated trees.

One of the things that stood out most about Singapore was how easy and safe it felt to explore. The MRT subway system is fast, spotless, and incredibly straightforward to use, making it effortless to get around the city. Everywhere we went, from early morning walks to late-night outings, we felt completely at ease and agreed it’s genuinely one of the safest cities we’ve ever visited.

We couldn’t resist visiting the legendary Raffles Hotel where we stepped back in time and soaked up its elegant colonial charm. Sitting in the Long Bar and sipping a classic Singapore Sling in the very place it was created was a true bucket-list moment. It was such a fun, nostalgic experience and yes, throwing peanut shells on the floor is still a tradition!

We also loved wandering through Chinatown, where we browsed vibrant markets, admired ornate temples, and feasted on delicious street food and a very strange green drink that tasted delicious! The food was incredible too - spicy chilli crab at Lau Pa Sat to plates of satay and dumplings at bustling hawker stalls. Every bite was a reminder of why Singapore is considered a foodie paradise.

We arrived in Singapore during their Chinese New Year celebrations and the decorations throughout the whole city were simply stunning.

A day on Sentosa Island offered a completely different vibe; relaxed, tropical, and fun. We took the trolley ride around the island, sunbathed on its golden beaches, enjoyed sweeping views from the cable car, and wandered through Universal Studios for a bit of adventure. Sentosa’s mix of attractions and natural beauty made it the perfect day out.

We also made time to explore Little India and Kampong Glam, each brimming with color, character, and culture. The vibrant murals, aromatic street food, and lively local shops painted a picture of Singapore’s rich multicultural heart.

Singapore isn’t just a city, it’s a destination that blends modern marvels, world-class dining, and cultural treasures into one unforgettable experience. Every corner has something new to offer, from futuristic skylines to peaceful gardens, from luxury hotels to local hawker stalls. After four days, we left feeling inspired, amazed and already dreaming of our return.
