Pattaya, Thailand

Our first visit toThailand surprised us with its perfect mix of serenity, culture, and coastal charm.

Our visit began at one of Thailand’s most extraordinary landmarks, The Sanctuary of Truth. This breathtaking temple, carved entirely from wood, stands as a tribute to Thai artistry and spiritual philosophy. Every inch of the structure is intricately detailed, telling stories from Buddhist and Hindu mythology. As we wandered through its towering halls, we were captivated by carvings depicting gods, celestial beings, and scenes symbolizing the eternal connection between humanity and the universe. The craftsmanship is astounding, not a single nail is used in the entire structure, and the temple continues to be built and restored by skilled artisans and we were able to watch them work. The atmosphere inside is both humbling and peaceful, a true reflection of Thai devotion and philosophy.

After soaking in the beauty of the temple, we took a leisurely stroll along the nearby beach, a calm stretch of sand where the only sounds were the waves and distant chatter from local fishermen. The laid-back vibe of Laem Chabang makes it the perfect antidote to Thailand’s busy cities.

We headed to Pattaya Floating Market, a lively maze of wooden walkways, canals, and traditional stalls selling everything from handmade crafts to local delicacies. There we sipped fresh fruit smoothies, browsed through souvenirs, and even sampled some of Thailand’s more adventurous street foods, including a few crispy insects! It was such a fun and authentic way to experience local culture. Families gathered there for family meals and mixed seamlessly with the tourists

Pattaya Beach is nearby, where golden sands meet vibrant beach bars and the lively energy of the city. We took a short ride up to the Big Buddha Hill (Wat Phra Yai), where the enormous golden statue overlooks Pattaya Bay. After climbing the ornate stairs, the panoramic views from the top were breathtaking, offering a peace spot to reflect on a day filled with culture, colour, and discovery

Our first taste of Thailand was so memorable; from spiritual masterpieces and bustling markets to peaceful beaches and panoramic viewpoints and truly captures the soul of Thailand: warm, welcoming, and wonderfully diverse.
